This
weekend is the MoCCA
Art Festival in NY. I'll be there along with Ryan,
Vera, Hope,
Mal, Becky,
Matthew, Andy,
Raina, Dave,
Amy, Johane,
and Kean. Drop by and say
hello!
Anyone
in New York looking for some good, cheap furniture? Since Amy
will be moving back with me to Pasadena (we're engaged!), she
has to get rid of some of her stuff. If you're interested, email
me. So here's what we've got:
Full
size mattress in excellent condition $90
Full length wooden standing mirror like new - $30
White 5-tier bookshelf - $10
Heavy wooden 2-tier bookshelf - $10
Heavy wooden 3 tier bookshelf - $20
Sturdy wooden breakfast table (with fold-out flaps)+ 3 ironwork
chairs - $75
Metal frame futon plus mattress w/ cover - $150
Newsarama
has an interview
with me about FLIGHT's move to Ballantine Books. Random House
will be making an official press release soon. Also, it looks
like Amy and I were nominated for a bunch of Web
Cartoonists' Choice Awards, cementing our incredibly geeky
romance.
By
the way, thank you to the wonderful people who sent me recommendations
for eateries in and around the Brooklyn area. You guys are super
sweet. I'll be sure to check out some of these places...
New
York...
I'm
loving New York. I feel really comfortable here, despite the hustle
and bustle. The manic pace isn't quite for me, but the people
here really make this a place I'll have to consider moving to...
thanks New York!
And
lastly, I want to apologize to people sending me emails who aren't
getting prompt replies. My webmail is pretty sluggish and I have
very little time to check my mail between meetings, work, and
subway commutes. Try to keep messages short and I'll see what
I can do to speed up my answering process...

Phew.
I just got the wireless network set up here in New York, so I'm
back online! The last week has been pretty hectic, and here's
the rundown on what's been going on:
This
past weekend I attended the Toronto
Comic Arts Festival. Ryan,
Vera, Hope,
Mal, Becky,
Vasilis, Corey, Johane,
Kean, Derek,
Matthew, Andy,
Raina, Dave,
Amy and I were there along
with a whole host of other cartoonists I respect and admire. A
highlight for me was getting to hang out with Jeff
Smith while putting up Flight and Bone posters around the
Scholastic tent. Heheh. Chris Butcher, Peter Birkenoe, and the
crew at The Beguiling
did an amazing job of putting together the show. I've never seen
so many top-notch cartoonists gathered together in such a comfortable,
laid back event. I had a really great time, and it's hard not
to when you're surrounded by so many cool and wonderful people.
I'll have pictures from the event up here soon. In the meantime,
here are links to some other reports by: Hope,
Kean, Vera
and Rich, Raina,
and Ryan.
