Just
saw the new Spidey movie. I enjoyed the heck out of it! While
sitting there smiling like a little kid, I felt most giddy watching
the signature Sam Raimi moments- the over-the-top action, the
cheesy close-ups of the screaming women, the melodrama cranked
up to level 10, and seeing how they melded so well with the world
of these characters. Big, fun, comic book action films are the
kinds of projects that Mr. Raimi was born to direct. What didn't
work at all in The Gift works so well here. Like with the
Evil Dead films, the Spider-Man 2 cast and crew
had their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks, and played for
an audience ready to have a good time. Great stuff.
This
weekend, I will be at Comickaze
in San Diego to promote Flight and Daisy Kutter on Free
Comic Book Day. Of course, the books aren't out yet, but they'll
be handing out free ashcan previews from some of the work from
both projects at the store. Be sure to come by and say hello!

Oops.
I just realized I forgot to post JP Ahonen's Daisy
pic (and it's one of my favorites!). You can view it over
at his site for now and I'll be posting it in the gallery soon.
Had my head buried in so much work lately, it's been hard to keep
up with people things... :)
And
here's a new Daisy Kutter review...
