Thankfully,
my nose is rather large. Without it, I may have found myself in
a mangled wreck somewhere along the I-5. You see, the right earpiece
of my glasses recently broke off and I've been left with a pair
of glasses sporting a single earpiece that I use very much like
Mr. Peanut's monocle. Since my rather large nose is shaped more
like a Roman nose than a typical rounder Asian one, my glasses
sat comfortably on top of the nose while I made my way safely
back to LA. Without it, I may not have been able to draw the piece
above me...
..which
may have been for the best, since this image was one of those
cases where I committed to a really crappy drawing. I have
done this on a number of occasions, especially when I'm on a tight
deadline. To show you what I mean, here's the original scan:
I
basically walked into the studio at midnight, found a scrap of
paper on the table, grabbed a permanent marker and went to town.
The original image has horrible scale issues, inconsistent linework,
and wonky perspective. Basically, it's a terrible drawing. I winced
while I began color work and thought it might be best not to post
anything, but then I just pushed my way through it and here it
is. Although I was sort of able to salvage it in photoshop, I
wish I had been able to produce a better original piece. Oh well,
on to the next one...
Copper
is inked and ready for coloring. It will be up later this week.
Sincerely,
Kazu
