Some of you may have already read the news, but Disney Adventures Magazine has been cancelled. (link via The Beat) This is a pretty major blow to children's comics publishing since the magazine was one of the few remaining venues for kids' comics in the mainstream market. Kids and parents could pick up copies of Disney Adventures at the checkstand of the local supermarket or a Walmart, the kinds of places that introduced comics to a kid like me many years ago. Over the last few years, I've heard many accounts of how this particular magazine was a reader's (and often an artist's) introduction to the medium. Anyway, this is some sad news, and I hope everyone who worked on the comics for the magazine are able to move on to other great things.
