Update: Here are some nice pictures of our booth during the Con from Andrew Speers's Con report, and some pictures of the Flight panel over at Jeff' Smith's blog. On a side note, Jeff is turning out to be one of the best bloggers in comics!
--------------------------------
We just returned from San Diego and we are exhausted. Kean, Becky, and Vasilis are staying with us for a week of drawing comics in the summer heat, and Neil is staying with us until tomorrow. During this time, I'll be working on the new Copper strip and my Flight 4 story. Should be a busy, but fun, week.
I must be pretty exhausted with work on Amulet, because I noticed myself working overtime to formulate sentences when talking to people, and there was noticeable rambling on my part, to my chagrin. It's just another reminder of how difficult it is to flip back and forth between work and social modes of thinking while in the middle of heavy production (and with a lack of sleep). Despite this, the Comic-Con was a blast. We sold a large number of books, posters, and prints, but the best part of the show was hanging out with friends. I say this a lot, but it's true that the greatest thing about being involved with Flight is in getting to know the artists and all the other great people who we meet along the way. We can tell aspiring comickers all about the technical aspects of creating a book like this, but the real reason for its success is the genuine quality of the people who put it together.

Thanks to Neil, Kean, Becky, Jen Wang, Steve Hamaker, Jeff Smith, Reagan Lodge, Azad Injejikian, Joey Weiser, Rad Sechrist, Phil Craven, Rodolphe Guenoden, Bill Plympton, Khang Le, Chuck BB, Dave Roman, Israel Sanchez, Richard Pose, Justin Ridge, and Amy for signing and sketching at the booth. Special thanks to Mandy Sechrist and Eric Wu for helping with booth duties. And extra extra special thanks to Johane Matte and Benedicte Guenoden for taking charge of the Flight booth, and turning what would have been pure chaos into a pleasant signing event for all of us.
Thanks also to the wonderful readers and fans who came to our booth and panel to support us. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to wander the convention floor as much this year, but I am glad to have met some of my favorite folks during the brief breaks away from the booth, including Jeff, Jon, Rich, and Andy of Dumbrella, Mike and Jerry of Penny Arcade, the incredibly talented (and super nice) artists from Out of Picture, the talented story artists of Afterworks, the suave Mark Siegel from FirstSecond, the hardworking fellas from Top Shelf, Aaron Renier, the nicest tall men in comics: Andy Runton, Gene Yang, and Doug TenNapel, the lovable Derek Kirk Kim, The Those Guys, the Viper Comics crew, Don Hertzfeldt, Erich, Chris and Dallas from Random House, Janna, Sheila and David from Scholastic, our lovely agent Judy Hansen, and of course, the McClouds (Scott, Ivy, Sky, and Winter), whose company always brightens any occasion while also creating a vortex of positive cerebral energy. My family also made the trek out to San Diego to see us. :) I know I'm forgetting some people, but I'll have to retreat for now and recharge the brain. After these past few weeks, it's feeling pretty battered.

My camera remained in the hotel room for most of the time, so I took very few pictures (these are Amy's). I'll just link to other related photo blogs as they appear (like Jeff's!). Now it's time for me to catch some z's. Check in later this week for an actual comic!
